Iron Infusion Therapy
Iron infusions are used to treat low iron levels and iron deficiency, which can lead to fatigue, weakness, shortness of breath, headaches, and difficulty concentrating. When iron levels are low, your body has a harder time producing healthy red blood cells and carrying oxygen efficiently. This is often why people feel constantly tired even when everything else seems normal.
Iron infusions deliver iron directly into the bloodstream, allowing for faster and more effective replenishment compared to oral supplements, especially for those who have not tolerated or responded well to oral iron.
This is a medical treatment that requires a provider order and recent lab work prior to scheduling. If you do not have recent labs, we can help coordinate testing.
Most patients require a series of infusions based on their levels, followed by repeat labs to monitor progress. Infusions take longer than a typical IV and are monitored closely. Some patients begin to notice improved energy within days to weeks, with continued improvement as iron levels are restored.
Iron infusions may be helpful for patients who:
- have low ferritin or iron levels
- feel persistently fatigued or low energy
- have heavy menstrual cycles
- do not tolerate oral iron
- have not improved with supplements
After you book, we will confirm that we have the required documentation before your appointment. Appointments may be cancelled or rescheduled if the required labs or orders are not received prior to your visit.
You can qualify in any of the following ways:
- Complete lab work through our clinic
- Provide recent lab results from another clinic
- Provide written orders from your provider
